Last weekend I had THE BEST experience! 🤩🤩🤩
I have been wanting to learn how to do tapestries for ages, my grandma used to do weave a lot, and crafting with yarn has fascinated me since childhood. My childhood home was filled with her crafts and some of her weaved pieces still hang in my grown up home today.
This is an original granny Siv, one of my favourites. It hangs just by my side of the bed.
So this weekend I had the immense pleasure to go, child free, to Stockholm to learn how to do tufted art.

not answering to the word mum, it was pure enjoyment my friends,
p u r e e n j o y m e n t ! ✨ ✨ ✨
In the past I’ve nodded obligingly when artists have told me that trying new methods is an important part to keep ones creative spark alive, but inwardly I’ve never really given it much thought. But since trying tufting I couldn’t agree more! It was truly inspiring to create the same motives but in a different technique. It felt as if I got to know my fictive buddies on a deeper level some how? I am still experimenting of course, but I feel like this might be my next big crush… 🙀🤗 iiik!
The combination of letting sheep smelling wool run through my fingers as I shoot a loaded gun at a blank canvas makes me feel both very old and very cool. Like granny meets Die hard 2, sort of. Yippi kay yarn mother fuckers.🤘(I’m sure Bruce Willis would appreciate a good tuft.) (And for those of you who’re too young to get the reference, please don’t tell me. I craft with yarn. 👵🏻. I don’t need to be reminded of my age )
I was amazed at how fast I learnt the skill, it wasn't hard at all! But then again I suppose it's a lot like painting. But I do realise I need to go a lot bigger if I'm to show all the details I do when painting. What do you think, would big wooly portraits be something you'd hang on your wall? I know I deffo would! 🤩
If you'd like to have a chance to buy this piece (or any other of my new ones) before anybody else, make sure you sign up to my email list! (I won't spam you I promise, just the occasional "hello" and "here's you're massive discount code".)
And if you want to have a look at the original 'Rob' which I based this tuft on, press this link
Cheerio friends! Tuft the world :)
